CHARACTERS

MARIA: 29, strong-willed professional. Tries to project an image of success in all aspects of life, but deep down feels that she wasted her best years with Joseph. She has come to a point where the pressure and expectations of life do not allow her to go back, but she wishes with every ounce of her being that she could erase it all. She resents, and yet longs for, the life she and Joseph had together--not because she had happiness, but because she had hope.

JOSEPH: 27, Charming, but emotionally reserved. He's left vulnerable in every aspect of his life, but could never see his time with Maria as a waste. The pressures of getting older and having his life turned upside down weigh heavily on him but his strength and detachment keep him surprisingly level-headed through the insanity that Maria's continue presence brings to his life.

Beantownscoop caveat: Grannies and Grandpas older than 25 may wish to reserve their decrepitude for a film where the 30th birthday is not quite viewed as one-foot-in-the-grave, and mid-life crisis arrives no earlier than 30! ;-)
